| So I was bored, and I decided to read all of my old entries from past 4th of Julys. Turns out I've been pretty good about documenting this day for the past 3 years.
Old traditions cannot die.
Lately, things have been routine and that not-so-routineish way. Since I got back from Franklin Pierce College, I've started my new job at Jacque's Flower Shop. I loveeee it. Now I'm stuck telling marty over at Le Pizz Man that things just aren't working out. oooorrrrr i could do the cowardly thing and write a note and slip it under the door. eek, that would be bad. (but oh, so easy.)
"Basically, Marty, its not you. Its me. Its not your fault that my other job pays better, has more pleasant people, free coffee every day, and popsicles. Its mine. Im just a demanding person, and I wish I would change, but I can't. So on that note. I quit. oh, and, PS: M-dawg...you still owe me for a weeks pay. Life is a bitch, huh?"
That would be much easier written than said. Oh lordy. What tangled webs we weave.
So Saturday, I went to Mike's Uncle's house for the annual cookout. My second one. I feel almost kind of priviledged. Mike and I have been dating now for 13 months. <3 that boy.
Sunday, I went to the lake, and waterskiied. I actually got up. My goodness, I never cease to amaze myself... ..SPEAKING OF WHICH! The Union Leader definitely printed Lauren's and My editorials. Its kind of surreal..but hey, your name glows brighter in print than it ever could in lights..so I'm pretty happy. Lauren and I will be around to autograph copies between the 12th and the 31st of the month. a $5 smile fee will be charged. :)
Ahh well. Life is ridiculous. And I wouldnt have it any other way.

| In life, circumstances present you with many interesting and unique opportunities.
Some should be taken, and others left to wonder about.
For instance, when a teacher presents you with a bag of chocolate maggots, it may be best to leave that to the imagination. However, when a teacher presents you with an application for nerd camp, take the opportunity.
Three weeks ago, I knew nothing about it. Two weeks ago, I was rushing my application in. One week ago, I was there, meeting 20 of the neatest kids of my life. Sure, the copious amounts of "gaggles", debates, and not-so-brief 'briefings' were usually boring and difficult to cover, and surviving off of 4 hours of sleep per night was difficult, but overall, it was a great experience.
Of course, nothing could be all work and no play on Amelia's watch either.
Toga parties, extreme toga soccer, life's stories at 1 a.m., busride singalongs with Dodrill's iPod, and the exclusive Presidency and the Press dance moves all helped to make this past week one of the most....unique.
Dorm life was different, too. Sure, sharing a room with Alexandra freaking Amadeo helped, and having full range over Fish's wardrobe, as she did mine; was nice, but what I found to be most interesting was the amount of freedom we had. Only at nerdcamp can two kids from across the country end up hooking up on a nightly basis and then "breaking up" 4 days later. Crazy kids. Cheshire 130 may never be the same. Oh mannnn.
So lets talk about hob nobbing. It is not one of my favorite activities. What is hob nobbing, you ask? It is the art of making yourself look 239802 times more intelligent while the person you are speaking with puffs his chest and makes himself look 302838 times more important. Traditionally, the person being hob nobbed is not very important, and the hob nobber is not really that intelligent. Ah well, it is a necessary evil.
So from random hook-ups and hob nobbers to toga soccer and "A whole New World" in surround sound, the week was a great experience.
Don't think I wont miss it. Love, amelia.
| Dear Xanga, So im not going to lie to you. Tomorrow, I leave for a week-long writing conference. Thats right - nerd camp. Im reasonably excited, but not knowing what exactly Im doing next week made packing quite a challenge. I think I packed 11 outfits...for 6 days. Oh well, Im prepared. So im leaving and stuff. It would be cool to have comments to get back to. Maybe even a Myspace friend request???
Hook me up. Love always, Amelia.
| June is officially the month of nostalgia.
I know youre supposed to associate springtime with new beginnings and whatnot, but lets face it, its also a time of endings.
Hey, wait a minute...I thought senior year was reserved for all this nostalgic shit? Oh well.
So Jamie and Rachel left Alex and I with the Blueprint today. I've officially accomplished what I've waited a good portion of my life to accomplish: I am an Editor-in-Chief of my school's newspaper. Looking back on the past few years, the Blueprint has definitely had a large hand in the molding of who I've become in high school. Through the Blueprint, I've met some of the most amazing, intelligent, and kind people of my life. Jamie and Rachel are truly an amazing couple. I'm going to miss them when they leave. And can we please talk about Lauren Fish? Mmm...I kind of love her. We're going to be roomies at nerdcamp.
So basically - i'm feeling the grains of my high school career slip between my fingers in a fast pace hourglass racing the clock.
-Mia.
Postscript: I hope we're not running out of time.
| so lately things have been changing.
